Exciting Times at Sequoyah Pre-K: A Semester in Review!

Sequoyah Pre-K had an incredible first semester! Our dedicated staff worked tirelessly to foster positive relationships with students, ensuring they feel welcomed and supported each day. From cheerful greetings at the door to interactions throughout the day, we have built a strong sense of community within our school.

The first semester truly flew by! We focused heavily on emotional intelligence, social skills, and personal growth, which has become a cornerstone of our curriculum. Each week, students visit Mrs. McIntosh’s classroom for an engaging lesson. These lessons emphasize cooperation, communication, and decision-making—skills that are essential both inside and outside the classroom.

In addition to our social-emotional learning, our teachers incorporated hands-on activities that help develop fine motor skills, creative thinking, and a love for exploration. Whether through art projects, music sessions, or group playtime, our students have shown tremendous growth in their ability to express themselves, collaborate with peers, and navigate challenges with confidence.

Our classrooms are filled with smiles as children learn to regulate their emotions, express empathy, and work together to solve problems. It has been inspiring to watch them thrive in a nurturing environment where their emotional and social development takes center stage alongside academic growth.

Looking ahead, we have an action-packed second semester in store:

February:

o We will celebrate 100 days of school, a milestone we always enjoy marking with fun activities.

o Our Spring Book Fair will run from Feb. 10–14, with families welcome to shop anytime between 7:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

o Several of our staff members will take part in the Polar Plunge to raise funds for Special Olympics.

March:

o Students will showcase their creativity in the Cherokee County Art Show, with selected works displayed at the PAC.

o Just before Spring Break, we will host our 6th Annual Trike-a-thon, our biggest fundraiser of the year. Students will seek sponsorships and ride trikes to see how many laps they can complete in 10 minutes.

With so many exciting events and opportunities for learning, the second semester promises to be just as dynamic as the first. We invite you to follow our journey on our Facebook page or visit us in person to experience the wonderful things happening at Sequoyah Pre-K.

Here’s to another fantastic semester of fun, growth, and learning! Let's continue to work together to support our youngest learners as they develop the skills and confidence they need to succeed in the years ahead.
