Update on District Maintenance

We are continually looking to make improvements to all aspects of our operations at Tahlequah Public Schools. Here is an update on some projects that are on-going or are in the planning stages at TPS.

Tahlequah Public Schools has recently approved to enter into an energy performance contract phase 2 to leverage money being paid to the utility company and make improvements. Our current project will replace heating and air units at the TMAC and four units at Tahlequah Middle School. Building envelope repairs across the district and water saving measures at various sites are also part of the project. The Phase 1 Lighting Project is already showing savings in our utility bills. We continue to look for ways to stretch every penny. It is imperative that we make our buildings not only safe but efficient and functional as well.

At Greenwood you will see that we have finished our Storm Shelter and students and teachers are utilizing the space every day. We are making plans to finish renovations at various sites with the remaining bond funds. At the TMAC, we have been renovating the steps that were having foundational issues and hope to have those complete soon. The dollars invested in our building from the community are very appreciated!

We are in the planning stages of an Ag Barn for our students and are very excited about the opportunities this will bring to our students. We are very thankful to Cherokee Nation and many other community members for their donations to help build this structure. We will have more information in the coming weeks.

We are so grateful for the support of the city and all of its departments. It appears to be understood that a community is only as good as its school system and a school system is only as good as its community.
