Welcome back to Heritage Elementary for the 2024-2025 school year. We have some exciting things happening this year.

Heritage Elementary had its Third Annual House Con Family Night on September 26, 2024. The event provided a wonderful opportunity for families to engage with our school's house system and experience the sense of community it brings to Heritage Elementary. Various stations were set up to cater to different interests, including an inflatable slide, creative activities, food, and community booths. For new families, the house presentation served as a valuable resource, explaining the characteristics of each house, the sorting process, how students earn house points, ROAR 34, cross-grade level connections, community connections, and house assemblies. We are looking forward to the next family event, Camp Read–A–Lot on November 12, 2024. The event promises to be an engaging experience with a range of activities such as games, literacy stations, a bonfire, and educational booths.

Congratulations to our new House Council student leadership electees.  Amistad House Senator is Ashtyn Proctor and representatives are Ajan Gerguri, Sofi Vega, and Ryder Pinney.  Altruismo House Senator is Leland Ward and representatives are Kyler Tibbetts, Karleigh Girdner, and Lenee Basson.  Isibindi House Senator is Presley Parker and representatives are Addisyn Beck, Isaac Sanchez, and Blakely Bynum. Rêveur House Senator is McKinley Eckert and representatives are Helena Nguyen, Braxton Trapp, and Elli Williams.

We have an exciting community outreach event organized by the House of Rêveur, which promotes career exploration and development among students. To coincide with World Dream Day, they have scheduled a Career Day event on October 24, 2024.  During this event, students are encouraged to attend school dressed in attire representing their desired career. Guest speakers, including parent and family volunteers, will provide valuable insights to students, helping them gain a deeper understanding of their career aspirations and develop a plan to turn their dreams into reality.

The house of Isibindi will be kicking off their community event, Bindi Blessings Canned Food Drive on October 20, 2024.  All proceeds will help stock our school district food closet.  If you would like to help, please bring non-perishable food items to Heritage Elementary.

This year we started a new school fundraiser which was a Read-A-Thon. This fundraiser not only fostered reading throughout the building it also helped raise funds needed to maintain and support educational materials for classrooms, student incentives, and many other academic necessities.  Thank you to everyone who supported this endeavor, we raised over $12,000.

We want to express our appreciation to everyone who contributed to the success of our recent fall book fair. The Innovative Literacy Grant has been instrumental in enabling us to give each student in the school two or more books, increasing access to reading materials, and promoting a love of reading among our students. Our students and staff look forward to the spring book fair in March.

This cross-country season has come to an end after the students participated in four total meets. The athletes here at Heritage Elementary found great success at each meet bringing home 40 medals in total across all meets! Students practiced every day during specials times. We had a fantastic cross-country season and are excited to build upon this success next year.

Fourth grade will perform during the Fall Follies Concert on October 10th at 6:00 p.m. They have been working hard learning Patriotic and Fall music. Our Veterans Day Program will be coming up on November 5th at 6:00 p.m. and we would like to invite all our area veterans to attend.

Thank you for supporting our local schools.  Amanda Vance, Heritage Elementary Principal
