Heritage Elementary has had a productive and busy first semester and we are looking forward to some fun-filled events this spring.
On January 30th, the House of Reveur organized a star-studded event featuring our talented Heritage students. The event consisted of two shows - one for kindergarten through third grade, and another for fourth and fifth grade. We had forty-three participants who showcased their talents to their families and friends. The event was a tremendous success and we have decided to make it an annual tradition.
Additionally, we want to share a special tradition of the Amistad House, which revolves around Valentine's Day. For the past three years, Amistad has organized a school-wide card making effort for our local nursing homes. This allows our students to spread acts of kindness to those in our community who may not receive much attention on holidays. On Monday, February 12th, Amistad leaders and House Council will be delivering these cards to local nursing homes.
We are excited to announce a new initiative inspired by the Ron Clark Academy. Moving forward, each Heritage House will be hosting their own family night, adding a sense of excitement, engagement, and tradition for our students and their families.
Amistad House has introduced a new tradition this year - a Valentine-themed dance for members and their guardians (Daddy/Daughter, Mother/Son, Student/Guardian). This dance aims to strengthen bonds among house members and families, as well as provide an opportunity to spend quality time with loved ones.
Isibindi House is thrilled to announce the upcoming Bindi BBQ on March 28th. We encourage all members of the House of Courage to bring their families and join us at school that evening for delicious food and fun games. This event will provide a chance to connect with each other's families and enjoy some fellowship.
The House of Altruismo is also excited to host their very first Bingo night! This event, taking place on April 18th, is an opportunity for our Altruismo students and their families to connect and foster a positive culture within their House. There will be food and exciting prizes up for grabs.
The Spring Book Fair is scheduled from April 1st to April 12th. For parents who are unable to shop during school hours, we are offering an evening shopping opportunity on April 11th from 4-7 PM, coinciding with parent teacher conferences.
Read Across America Week will be celebrated from March 4th to March 8th. During this week, we aim to promote reading through various special events. At Heritage Elementary, we will be celebrating books that inspire our students to dream big. As part of our celebration, we will have fun dress up days throughout the week, and parents will be invited to visit classrooms and read their favorite books with the students.
Kindergarten and 1st Grade are preparing for their Spring Concert in May. These concerts will include a variety of songs from the modern era and musicals such as Annie and Wizard of Oz. You don't want to miss a chance to see Heritage's youngest musicians perform. Also, 2nd and 3rd grade will get the opportunity to watch the Tulsa Opera Tour at the PAC on April 3rd.
Our annual PTO Jog-A-Thon is tentatively scheduled for Thursday March 7th. We greatly value the continued involvement and support of our community. With your contributions, we can make the necessary enhancements to our building and grounds that parents have been requesting. Please mark your calendars and save the date for this fun and meaningful event. We look forward to your participation in making this year's PTO Jog-A-Thon a success.
